We are living in such a stress inducing world right now, it is critical that we take time out for some mindfulness self-care to calm our mind and body for the benefit of our overall health. Mindfulness doesn't have to be complicated, it can be a simple act, which with practise, will reduce our stress levels and create balance back into our lives. It can be done by ourselves or with our loved ones, so they benefit too... Some benefits of a daily mindfulness moment are: Reduction in stress levels. Reduces anxiety and depression. Helps prevent unwanted weight gain. We are more present, not dwelling on past or future concerns. Improves focus and concentration benefitting brain health. Reduces high blood pressure. Reduces chronic pain. Decrease gastrointestinal problems eg. IBS, bloating. Improves quality of sleep.
Here is a suggestion for you, which you can enjoy independantly or with the family:
JIGSAW PUZZLES Jigsaw puzzles are a great way to de-stress, especially now puzzle mats are available which make it easy to store during the day. No puzzle mat..no problem, use a piece of thin plywood or chipboard to place your puzzle on, so that it is easy to remove from the table, to a safer place, when you wish to eat, or do an online jigsaw puzzle (though I prefer engaging the tactile senses of real jigsaw pieces). There are many choices to purchase jigsaws in store, online or in the local charity shops, so should be easy to find one that interests you.
