An ideal of romantic love may be elegantly displayed in Fred Astaire and Ginger Roger’s amazing on screen dancing partnership, as they float across the dance floor together in perfect step with each other. Portraying a perfect harmonised relationship of equals.
Whereas miss-steps and messiness may be reflected in the Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey partnership in the early part of the film, Dirty Dancing, where during practice she steps on his toes and he pokes her in the eye!
We may be led to think that there are the ‘Perfect couples’, where their life together seems completely harmonious, like Fred & Ginger, but in reality we all experience the ups and downs in life and in our relationships. We are much more likely to be like Patrick & Jennifer!

The messiness of mis-steps on the dance floor of life can be worked through together with practice, building a stronger partnership of equals. We learn more about ourselves and our partner as we work through the dance routine together, towards a more meaningful relationship.
